Dr Somnath Chakraborty presently has over 10 years of experience in Vitreo-Retina. He did his MBBS and MS (Ophthalmology) from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University. Subsequently he did his Long-term fellowship in Vitreo-retina from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai (2005-2007). After finishing his fellowship he joined the Retina clinic of Aravind, Madurai as an Associate Professor (2007). Since 2009 he has been in Private Practice. He is currently associated exclusively with the Retina Institute of Bengal (RIB), Siliguri. Dr Chakraborty has 9 Inter-national and 4 national Publication. He has presented multiple surgical videos in various Regional, National and International Forums including ASRS and EuRetina. He won the Satya Hazra Best Paper in Community Ophthalmolgy in 2021 for the pioneering work on ROP screening in Government run SNCUs of Alipurduar district. He has conducted multiple training workshops on Diabetic Retinopathy management, Vitreo-retina surgical techniques, Anti-VGF injections and ROP screening and treatment for ophthalmologists, pediatricians, post graduate students at the level of SAARC, AIOC, OSWB and North Bengal.
